My first contract
— Posted Monday 18th January 2010 by Susanna Hudson
At 11.30, Sunday 17th January I, Susanna Hudson signed my first contract.
With an audible sigh of relief I slid back into my chair, put on a record and thanked my lucky stars for the opportunity to work at Siren.
'This will be a positive year for Pisceans' announced my horoscope, happily playing into my arms. For once I am more than willing to believe it. I will make it so.
2009 was a year of change. I emerged from Edinburgh University with a degree in History of Art and a hunger for employment and soon found myself joining a vast migrant workforce of PR interns, wandering London, eating scraps from client meetings and quenching my thirst on the odd drink on Friday. Well, not exactly, but you can imagine my excitement when an email arrived from Siren shortly before Christmas...
After spending six months doing everything from ushering Donatella Versace to her seat during the London Fashion Week to tracing the coverage of a dishwasher, I had returned to my parents for Christmas. No plans. No job. Then at a click, there it was.
Now a week into working at Siren and the buzz remains. After witnessing the launch of the magnificent Oasis of the Seas while doing work experience and tracing the coverage following this, I am looking forward to getting properly involved with Royal Caribbean and the other accounts I am working on.
